Tokyo 7-day forecast (August 7-13)

Mid-week ushers in a couple of days with scattered showers amidst the cloud cover, so don't forget your rain gear when heading out. The latter half of the week remains overcast, yet dry, with Friday potentially being the warmest day. As the weekend approaches, temperatures slightly dip, giving you a cooler, yet still cloudy, Sunday to wrap up your week.

For your packing needs, breathable, light clothing is advisable for the daytime. A portable umbrella or a light raincoat will be useful for those sporadic showers mid-week. Don't forget your sunscreen to shield against any UV rays slipping through the clouds.

Japan 7-day forecast

Japan 7-day forecast

What's the weather like in Japan this week? Typhoon Khanun is forecasted to pass near Kyushu around the 9th, make its way to the Sea of Japan on the 10th, and head towards northeastern China by the 11th. Given the weakening high-pressure system in the Pacific, humid conditions are expected nationwide throughout the week. The front is set to stall near Hokkaido around the 10th before moving northward.

Due to Typhoon Khanun, there's a risk of heavy rains and high seas in Okinawa and Amami around the 9th, and in West Japan around the 10th. Similar conditions are likely in East Japan around the same time. The slow-moving typhoon means prolonged heavy rain, especially in Okinawa, Amami, and the Pacific side of West Japan. Stay updated with the latest typhoon news.

With temperatures soaring in northern, eastern, and western Japan, particularly along the Sea of Japan coast, there will be many hot days, some even bordering on heatwaves. Don't forget to stay hydrated and take precautions against heatstroke.

In Hokkaido, expect cloudy conditions with some rain around the 9th and 10th. Tohoku will also see widespread clouds, though there might be some sunshine along the Sea of Japan coast on the 9th. Both East and West Japan will be rather cloudy, with a high chance of rain from the 9th to the 11th. Similarly, Okinawa and Amami will be cloudy, with occasional showers around the 9th.

7-day forecast for Sapporo (Northern Japan )

Sapporo's weather is set to be a mixed bag in the coming week. Expect cloudy skies, accompanied by frequent showers at the start of the week, with temperatures in the mid to upper 20s °C (mid-70s to low 80s °F).

These showers will become less frequent by Wednesday, even as the mercury continues to climb, hitting the lower 30s °C (upper 80s °F) around mid-week.

From Thursday onward, the rain lets up, but the cloud cover sticks around, with temperatures maintaining their position in the lower 30s °C (upper 80s °F) until the end of the week.

7-day forecast for Sendai (Northeastern Japan)

The weather in Sendai this week is showing its consistent side. All week long, expect cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures hovering in the lower 30s °C (upper 80s to low 90s °F).

The start of the week leans more toward the cloudy side, with the sun possibly peeking out a little more toward the end of the week when the clouds thin slightly. Despite the lack of direct sunshine, the temperatures will stay fairly warm, providing plenty of opportunities to explore.

For your trip to Sendai, pack light, breathable clothing to stay comfortable in the warm temperatures. An umbrella or a raincoat could come in handy as well, considering the clouds might decide to surprise you with a shower or two. Additionally, a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock will be your best friends, protecting you from any UV rays that manage to break through the cloud cover.

7-day forecast for Osaka (Central Japan)

If you're heading to Osaka this week, brace yourself for a rather warm experience with temperatures sizzling in the mid-30s °C (mid-90s °F). The week begins and continues on a cloudy note, with frequent scattered showers on Monday and Wednesday, and a few more sprinkles expected on Thursday.

As the week progresses, the rain chances dip, but the clouds still hang around, offering some respite from the heat. From Friday through the weekend, it's the same story of mostly cloudy skies with temperatures firmly planted in the mid-30s °C (mid-90s °F).

When packing for Osaka, be sure to include light and airy clothes to beat the heat. A trusty umbrella or raincoat will be handy for those scattered showers, and don't forget your sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for the sunny spells in between. Hydration is key in this weather, so remember to carry a water bottle wherever you go.

7-day forecast for Fukuoka (Kyushu)

Heading to Fukuoka this week? The weather's set to be pretty consistent, with temperatures typically hanging around the mid-30s °C (low to mid-90s °F).

The week starts off on a cloudy note for Monday and Tuesday, then buckle up for some rainstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, as typhoon Khanun moves through the area. Be prepared for heavy rain punctuated with strong gusts of wind. By Friday, the stormy weather takes a back seat, and we're back to mostly cloudy skies, which stick around through the weekend.

When it comes to packing, lightweight, breathable clothing will help you beat the heat, while a raincoat or an umbrella is a must for those rainy mid-week days.

7-day forecast for Naha (Okinawa)

Planning a trip to Naha? You're looking at a week of mostly cloudy skies with highs ranging around the lower 30s °C (upper 80s °F). The week begins a bit cooler on Monday with a high around 29°C (84°F), but then gradually warms up, reaching the 32°C mark (around 90°F) by Thursday. Expect this warmer trend to continue into the weekend before it cools down slightly on Sunday.

As for packing, you'll want light, breathable clothing to keep comfy in the warm, humid weather. An umbrella or light raincoat might come in handy for any sudden showers. Sunglasses, a hat, and a good amount of sunscreen are essential for any sunny breaks through those clouds. Keep a water bottle handy to stay refreshed.
